Fleabusters

In the house, fleas can be safety eliminated with a tried and tested diatomaceous earth product made by Fleabusters. This flea powder is applied to all carpeted areas and furniture. Kills fleas physically rather than chemically and is completely safe for pets and children. The company will treat your house and offers a full one year no flea guarantee! Or do-it-your-selfers can purchase Fleabusters powder online at Only Natural Pet Store.

In the yard, let Mother Nature do her thing with beneficial nematodes. Create a biological battlefield using microscopic roundworms that feed on flea larvae and other pests like flies, ants, and roaches.

Fleabusters offers another product, BioBusters, for outdoor flea control. Or look for NemAttack Beneficial Nematodes online or at garden centers.

Keep your dog flea free naturally!

Last week I was called back for some urgent dog duty by several frantic emails. Duty calls. I had to put the books down and once again join forces with my fellow dog rebels. Get ready for some real fireworks…

Who is a dog chef?

Anyone who can boil water and worries that dog food is not the real deal that consumers have been brainwashed to swallow. Ever wonder what dogs ate before Ralston Purina dreamed up the booming business of making dog food decades ago? Reality check: The family dog ate whatever our grandmothers or great grand mama’s cooked up. True to the heart of all dog chefs, we ain’t taking chances on food that has been marked unfit for human consumption.

Shame On Verizon Wireless!

July 25th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Sometimes you just have to put your mighty to-do list on hold and stop and smell the poo-poo. For the last week or so, I have smelled a nasty Verizon Wireless TV ad that has outraged many of us who understand the serious consequences of negative breed stereotyping. Can you guess the breed of dog Verizon Wireless (VZW) picked for their junkyard ad?

The Heavy Pawprints Rufus Left Behind

July 16th, 2008 · 31 Comments

Rufus

Don’t read this without a box of Kleenex on hand. Ok, I warned you. Now here goes: Last week my staff and I said our final goodbyes to Rufus. It was an unexpected goodbye—not the one we had planned. No adoption papers were signed. No cheering. No happy tears. None of that. Our final goodbye would leave us all sobbing.

My Declaration of War on Cancer

Me and Woody
Lisa Scarsi
Me and Woody, a cancer warrior with a game plan.

Six months ago, after I finished a one year project to write the 30 Minute Vet Consult series, I began my next all out research project—to develop an anti-cancer game plan. In fact, as I dug in hard to study the best published research from around the world, it’s now become a full fledged mission. Sometimes you just need to get good and sick of it—whatever “it” is. Well, I got good and sick of cancer dead ends. Sick of feeling hopeless. Sick of being unable to help friends, relatives, and my own patients. Yep, my butt is off the cancer sideline. I plan to bust more dogma, make you think, and take some action too!

Cancer Part lll: Cracking the Cancer Code

July 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Symptoms and treatment outcomes can vary greatly based on where cancer finds its opportunity: Breast tissue, lymph nodes, lung, liver, bone, skin, brain—any type of cell tissue is at risk. However, all cancers begin their deadly careers with the single flip of a metabolic switch! Dog Whisperer show update: can you help Rufus?

June 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment

SHOW UPDATE: Late afternoon on May 23rd, the show we taped with Cesar Millan in January of this year had just aired while we were all still hard at work.  Surprise, surprise—it was broadcasted three hours earlier to eastern

Rufus still looking for a forever home.
Rufus is still looking for a “forever home” he can call his own. Founders Veterinary Clinic is taking applications for his adoption.

viewers than our expected 8pm western show time. Curious phone callers bogged down our receptionist with calls about Rufus. Now the cat—or should we say dog—was out of the bag!

Harbored inside the walls of our veterinary clinic for three long years…finally, the outside world was to learn of our struggles with Rufus. The response was incredible. Dog lovers as far away as Australia praised our efforts—leaving thank-you notes for Cesar Millan on my blog. Our clients bragged to their friends that their vet was on the Dog Whisperer—giving us local celebrity status. Now, if only a producer would call—I’ve got a great idea for a reality TV show about vets!

RUFUS UPDATE:  Rufus has made amazing progress—Cesar would be proud of our team effort to rehabilitate him. But now we need your help. Help Rufus to find lasting human companionship—a master who will adore his spirit and give him his own bed to sleep on. We are ready to pack his suitcase!

PLEASE try out your matchmaking skills and forward this email to all your friends and family. Or could this handsome hunk be the man you are looking for?
